Since when is ozone used to heal?
The first ozone device was built in 1857 by a German deviser named Werner v. Siemens. Since 1930’s, ozone has been used as a solution for oedema, treatment and in water. Its medical purposes are immense. In 1972, a therapy association, founded in Germany, started to define specific guidelines for the safe use of ozone and supports more intensive research on this subject.
How is ozone generated?
Ozone is generated from ultraviolet light and electric oxygen discharges. Oxygen is usually made up of pairs of oxygen atoms, the O2 molecules. At high energies, this bond can be broken, resulting in individual oxygen atoms, the socalled free radicals. The reactive oxygen atoms combine with oxygen molecules to form O3 molecules, that is, ozone molecules. These are very unstable; they separate quickly into an O2 molecule and a free oxygen atom.
How is ozone produced?
Ozone must be prepared for an application on the site. The process is carried out using the silent electric discharge method. Simplified medical oxygen is ionized through high forces in the electric field, molecules divide and new compounds are formed, which creates the triad of oxygen atoms, i. e., the ozone molecule. For ozone therapy devices, medical oxygen is used for ozone production. Ozone is also used for water treatment and food disinfection.
